And a New York City press card — or a “press pass,” as it’s also known as in NYC — entitles the bearer certain rights above and beyond those of a civilian, including the right to photograph or otherwise report on events taking place at locations under NYPD jurisdiction, such as crime scenes, parades, and protests. The same likely applies in other municipalities in countries where there is freedom of the press.  You know who should know that?  Michael fucking Bloomberg, whose namesake company is itself a media company that covers, among other places, New York City.
